theBoom® Quiet uses UmeVoice's patented noise-reduction microphone with lightweight ANR (Active Noise Reduction) binaural speakers to provide outstanding speech recognition performance and actively reduce background noise.
The foldable light-weight headset (240 g including batteries) provides higher accuracy than the Andrea ANC and VXI Parrott TalkPro range of headsets. Sound is clean and uncoloured with a wide dynamic range.
The ANR electronics in the speakers cut out external noise (even aircraft engine noise) while the specially designed noise-reducing speaker domes fit firmly over the ears for optimal seal.
The microphone boom is detachable allowing the device to be used as a stereo headset or simply to remove noise (e.g. aircraft cabin noise).
The headset cable has a universal female connector (2.5 mm) with mute switch and earpiece volume control. A 2.4 m ( 8') cable with 3.5 mm soundcard jacks and a shorter male-to-male cable with 2.5 mm jacks for cell phone use are supplied.
This is one of the most accurate headsets available for speech recognition.
In use, the microphone should be placed approximately 1 cm (0.5”) from the corner of the mouth. If you are a professional dictating thousands of words a day theBoom headset will save you many tens of corrections by accurately recognising the small words that other microphones do not (for example an/in/and, or/our). If you work in a high-noise environment - even up to 115 dB - this headset will still provide accurate transcription while the ANR speakers will protect your hearing. theBoom microphone element is the same one that is used in military equipment and by racing car drivers.

By shaping the aperture of the two-port microphone, background noise is made to strike both the front and the back ports in phase, thereby cancelling itself out. The speaker's voice however, is concentrated on the front port and deflected from the back port. This enables the microphone to transmit a clear and strong speech signal, without background noise even at 115 dB (e.g. the level at an arena rock concert).
