UK L90 type USB Maltron Keyboard.
Specifically designed for new Maltron users, this keyboard maintains as closely as possible the classic flat keyboard layout for existing Qwerty users who wish to remain with the Qwerty letter layout.
The L90 incorporates a native USB controller for use with both PC and Apple computers. It is not available with a PS/2 connector; see Maltron model J89 for this option.
The four multi-media control keys present on Apple keyboards are included for both PC and Apple use (Eject only works with Apple OS).
Note: In the layout diagrams above, the primary key layout shown in Black is lasered on the keytops. The green letter/symbols show the alternate ROM layout key positions, and are NOT engraved on the key-tops. The ONLY exception to this is the Q/m layout which has the OPTION of being supplied with dual Lasing. All key-tops are lasered black irrespective of layout diagram colour, (actually due to process factors of laser engraving it is a dark grey) on light grey key-tops.
The L90 is also available with an integral trackball - select from the options below if required.

Notes on Mice & Trackballs:
A common source of trouble for intensive computer users is the mouse used to control the cursor. This has become more serious through the development of software needing its frequent or almost continuous use.
Holding a mouse usually requires gripping between thumb and little finger to move it and then more strongly to hold it in place while the index finger operates the action button. From these actions pains in hand, arm and shoulder can develop.
Trackballs, which are inverted mice, are also available in different sizes and mountings, but still need holding and operating by one hand.
All need appreciable hand and arm movement to reach the operating position and they occupy a fair amount of additional desk space.
To overcome this problem you may request an optional trackball (L89 & L90 models) in the palm rest area of the central number pad. In this position the ball may be easily moved by the thumb with the fingers cupped and the hand resting over the key thumb group. The top of the ball is slightly below the palm rest surface so that it does not interfere with normal keyboard use.
The central location of the trackball enables either thumb to be used with the wrist kept straight and the hand tilted outwards in a comfortable position.
Action Buttons for the trackball are positioned so that they are operated by the other hand. The placing of the buttons allows the hand to rest in a relaxed state but ready for use. This arrangement ensures that the accurate and careful positioning of the ball is not disturbed when operating an action button.
General Notes:
[space] keys are annotated in above and PDF diagrams to clearly show their positions, however these keys are normally blank (as per standard convention) on the actual keyboard.
Key-tops are normally laser engraved with the dominant keyboard layout (shown in black). All engraving will be black on the grey key-tops as per picture at top of page.
Dual layout laser engraved key-tops which also include the secondary keyboard layout (shown in green) can be supplied as a special order. Please phone for more details.
Both the Maltron and the Qwerty layouts are always available irrespective of the key-top engraving, and are selected by a switch on the underside of the keyboard.
Both PC and Apple Mac usage options are also always available and this is selected by a mode switch on the underside of the keyboard.
Multi-Media key functions accessible to the user are dependant on computer program function and operating system.
New Two-handed Maltron keyboard.
During the last 25 years more than 2,000 keyboard users have now successfully used a standard Maltron two-handed fully-ergonomic keyboard to recover from keyboard induced pain.
The new Maltron "L Type" two-handed keyboard model updates our existing proven design with new key layouts and a native USB controller for operation with both PC and Apple computers.
Dual engraved Qwerty/Maltron key tops are optionally available for users who need to be able to change between the two installed layouts ( UK and US English layouts ONLY ).
All key positions are specifically mapped in the keyboard irrespective of layout selected, no additional setup is required in the computer in order to use the keyboard.
All Maltron keyboards also contain an alternative Qwerty key place map which can be selected by the user.

- Central numbers suit both left & right handed users.
- The letter keys are angled inwards to match natural finger movements and the keys for the longer fingers are recessed further to reduce finger "cramping" and provide a more relaxed hand posture.
